Mysql doesn't yet support schema changes in a transaction? I think @Open Policy Agent's Gatekeeper project would do a good job creating custom policies on database tables. We have a "depends On" planned and in the schema, but it's not (yet) implemented. It makes me wonder if we can (on PG specifically) apply the schema change in a transaction, and not commit it to see if it's likely to be successful.
